The current state of photovoltaics in Poland, the long-awaited law on renewable energy sources and its impact on the profitability of investments in photovoltaics are the topics discussed during the conference "Energy efficiency of photovoltaics". The conference "Photovoltaics - legal and economic issues" organized by the National Association for Sustainable Building Support under the patronage of Go4Energy company, which took place on May 7 in Warsaw.

In recent years, we can observe a stagnation in power coming from photovoltaics installed in our country. This is related to the uncertainty in the market. Although in previous years many investors willingly invested in photovoltaics, the long period of waiting for the law and then the law itself cooled down their enthusiasm.

Professor Dorota Chwieduk from the Polish Solar Energy Association spoke about the prospects for the development of photovoltaics in Poland and abroad. In her presentation she pointed out that photovoltaics in Poland will develop and the future is integrated photovoltaics (BIPV).

Mrs. Małgorzata Turalska from the Renewable Energy Department of the Ministry of Economy spoke about the assumptions of the Act on Renewable Energy Sources. The support systems were described - the system of so-called Dutch auctions, which will replace the current system of so-called "green certificates" and the system of guaranteed tariffs for new microinstallations of RES.

Mrs. Małgorzata Turalska stressed that the aim of the Act is first of all to support proven and mature technologies, which in Polish conditions are characterized by the highest stability and the lowest cost of electricity generation. However, she added that "there is also a chance for photovoltaics, which is not yet a mature technology in Poland, but since it positions in other countries, there is certainly a place for it in Poland and should also develop, but we do not want it to be a rapid development, the best is to be sustainable".
Attention was also drawn to the new jobs that will be generated in the renewable energy sector thanks to the law.

Mr. Marcin Juszczyk, attorney at Drzewiecki Tomaszek & Partners, spoke about the support for photovoltaics in the light of the new RES Act and about the doubts related to the Act itself and its amendment.

The conference also presented examples of existing installations together with an economic analysis. Mr Michał Chwieduk from the Polish Solar Energy Association presented good and bad practices having an impact on the profitability of installations and exemplary calculations of the payback period, which were very interesting for the listeners.

The conference ended with a discussion panel concerning the changes in the RES Act. The panel was attended by Ms. Małgorzata Turalska - representative of the Ministry of Economy and Mr. Marcin Juszczyk - attorney at law. A lot of controversial questions arose among the listeners. During the discussion, many doubts that the new system introduces were dispelled.
